Our Students

Since opening in 1926, our community developed to become a fusion of country and city whānau. This is reflected in the amazing kids we have that help drive our school culture!

We have over 20 different cultures represented across the school and our children are well aware of the joy to be celebrated in our differences and our similarities with each other. We honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our children seemlessly know the integration Te Reo Māori (Māori Language) and Matauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) has at our school.

As of mid-2025 our cultural make up is 59% NZ Euorpean, 19% Māori, 15% Asian, 6% Middle Eastern/Latin American/African/American and 1% Pasifika.

Our school vision is ‘Knowing myself, knowing our place, Finding my Future’ ‘ E mohio pū ko wai au, E mohio pū ki tāku turanga, kia rapu tāku huarahi’ which is our goal for our students, to be active learners in finding their strengths and passions, as well as their areas for development to know themselves. To know the special place that is Mangorei, our land, our town and our wonderful region of Taranaki, NZ. To use this to set course on finding their future, using these things as their compass
